About this specialty training: The primary goal of harm reduction is to minimize the negative consequences associated with high-risk behaviors. It is centered around a compassionate, client-centered approach, prioritizing the unique needs, goals, and autonomy of each individual. I believe that change doesn't always mean complete elimination of a behavior or substance. That's why in harm reduction the focus lies in minimizing potential harms, fostering engagement, and inspiring incremental progress in our clients' lives.
In this class, we will go over the tenants of harm reduction and apply these skills to real cases from Mel's clinical practice. You will learn how to apply harm reduction skills to co-create health plans with clients, build trust and resilience through empowerment. Class is interactive and discussion based.
